Carine Roitfeld : irrelavant

Ex Editor-in-Chief of the French Vogue, Carine Roitfeld did a book signing party held in Dover Street Market yesterday, for her book, 'irrelavant' edited by Olivier Zahm and Alex Wiederin.  The book came in two editions : £60 Standard Edition and £150 Limited Edition.  Between the two different editions, it shows no differences in the contents, but the materials used for the cover of the book and the bookcase is different.  If I was just buying the book from a local Waterstone or Amazon.co.uk, then I would have picked up the cheaper Standard Edition, but since I am getting it signed by her, I thought it would make more sense to get the Limited Edition copy.

Free food from the Rose bakery!

The book signing was to be started at 6:00PM but it started around 5:30ish.  Lucky for me, I was there to be the first 10, I assume.  Anyways, she looked amazing just as she looks in the magazines and other medias.  She is the most well-fitted person in her age group I have ever met, and of course with her superb sense of style.

Having lectures all day since 9:00AM in the morning, I look worse than my usual

I must say, I was little bit unexpected to see Carine as a very warm person.  I mean from the magazines and fashion photos, she is often portrayed as a powerful and charismatic figure, but I felt she was a very warm and welcoming person.  Perhaps in a business meeting, she is a different person but I think you must have a kind personality somewhere deep down, in order to reflect sincere smiles.  I might be feeling all this way because she even helped me putting the book back into the book cover ;-)

The book is very big and can't fit it in my bookshelf

Unlike other coffee table books, 'irrelavant' is not tedious at all, rather interesting to read I think.  It takes a form of interview, where a question is asked for her to answer on various topics, thoughts, experiences and etc.  The best part about this book is that you don't have to start reading the book from the page 01, you can just pick up the book, open any page and you can enjoy the beautiful editorial works of Carine and read about the Q&A.
